The first RAAF C-17 to ever visit Mount Isa touched down at 16:11 on Saturday 26 June in what could be described as a successful proving flight as well as the opportunity to collect some very excited Air Cadets.
The turn around at Mount Isa was expedited with the C-17, call sign “Stallion 66” keeping all four engines running whilst on the ground. After twenty minutes the aircraft departed over the city on it’s way to Townsville
